Wedding Dress of the Week: Anne Barge Devereaux

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

This Anne Barge couture bridal gown is called Devereaux.  This designer wedding gown features a feminine strapless neckline and fitted bodice, which gives a sexy, yet elegant feeling and look to the gown.  It exudes drama and glamour from the strapless neckline to the fitted french chantilly lace bodice that glides gracefully over the the hips and stylishly flares into layers upon layers of tulle edged in horsehair and accented with french alencon lace.   The delicate silk flower petals accent the bust-line and travel lightly down the bodice and through the light beige sash.  The silk petals are accented with lightly scattered crystals to give the gown just the right amount of sparkle and elegance.   The gown has all the elements that any bride is looking for Sophistication, Elegance, Romance, Specialness and of course sexiness, too!

Reese Witherspoon Wedding Details Revealed!

Reese Witherspoon Wedding Details Revealed!

After we announced Reese’s wedding a few weeks ago, and that she would be wearing couture bridal gown by designer Monique Lhuillier, we couldn’t wait to find out more details! Their wedding took place in the bride’s $6.95 million dollar home on Saturday, March 26 in her very own backyard in Ojai, California.

Only 120 guests were invited to the couple’s private ceremony, including Scarlett Johansson, Renee Zellweger, Robert Downy Jr., and Matthew McConaughey. Reese’s nieces were the flower girls, and both of her children were in the wedding party! We love a good old fashioned family affair when it comes to weddings, and according to sources, the reception has a rustic theme.

And now to the best part: The Dress. Reese wore her hair down, and both mother and daughter matched in custom Monique Lhuillier gown. Reese’s dress was incredibly romantic, pale pink, with a long pink sash under the bust. She stunned in this timelessly romantic look, and we think she absolutely nailed it!

When asked about the dress she said, “The wedding was a wonderful experience. Everything went perfectly, right down to the dress which I just loved. Monique made it especially for me. She’s been a family friend of Jim’s for a very long time and it was an honor to be able to go to her atelier and have her make one of her beautiful gowns for me. I was just delighted.”

Nothing like the thrill of finding a dress that seems made for you! For all you upcoming brides interested in a similar look, be sure to check out our available Monique Lluillier gowns for your own special day.

Top 5 Wedding Fears Revealed!

Top 5 Wedding Fears Revealed!

After interviewing hundreds of upcoming brides-to-be, author of Wow! Glowing Bride in 30 Days, Laura Pepper has discovered the top 5 fears that bride’s often have when it comes to the topic of their wedding day.

No matter how early the planning begins, it seems a bride’s work is never done. As stress builds from searching for the flowers to the invitations, the registry to the caterer, it’s easy for even the most optimistic bride to begin feeling mentally and physically exhausted. After experiencing her own stressful wedding and talking to other brides, Laura compiled a list of the top 5 concerns that many brides experience, read her findings below:

5.)    Being stressed out and unable to enjoy the big day:

Much like the hostess that can’t enjoy her own party, some brides are worrying that on the day she will be so caught up trying to please everyone and worrying about the details, that she won’t have time to reflect on the importance and magic of the day.

4.)    Feeling ill:

The immune system is compromised during times of stress, lack of sleep and poor nutrition. It is no surprise to learn then that brides and grooms who have been non-stop during the engagement process, on top of their regular schedules, are prone to catch a cold or flu before or just after the wedding day.

3.) Under-eye circles:

Despite what most people think, under eye circles are not always related to a lack of sleep. They are highly hereditary, and become more common with age when the skin around the eye gets thinner. Sun exposure can also exasperate dark circles, as can allergies. However, being tired and exhausted can make you appear a shade paler, and this will make dark circles stand out. Brides wanted to know how, through diet, lifestyle and makeup, dark circles could be eliminated from their wedding day pictures.

2.) A big red zit:

It’s well known that zits can arise from a lack of sleep and too much stress. In fact the skin is one of the first places to display stress – the body moves circulation away from the skin to support the heart and muscle tissues, and this affects nutrient delivery and the overall complexion. Toxin flushing, digestion and hydration are all compromised, and this in turn becomes apparent on the skin.

1.)    Not fitting into the dress:

The wedding dress is perhaps the most symbolic physical item of the brides day, and therefore no surprise that so many brides were concerned with fitting into it! Surveyed brides reported that the exhausting nature of wedding planning makes it a challenge to stay trim though – ordering take-out is easy when there is no time to cook, exercise is on the back burner at the end of an exhausting and jam-packed day, and comfort eating creeps up in times of stress. Learning how to eat right, minimize comfort eating, and find an achievable workout program is essential in order to calm bride-to-be’s fear of out growing her dress.

The last thing we want any of our brides to feel is stress, especially because of the negative effects it can have on your health, mental vitality, and appearance. We hope that here at Your Dream Dress we can make your lives a little simpler by providing you with excellent customer service and gowns that will make you look drop-dead gorgeous on your big day!

From the Red Carpet to the Aisle

It’s February and both love and fashion are in the air as we recognize National Weddings Month and award season! And while these two might not seem like a match made in heaven, we here at Your Dream Dress find wedding gown fashion and red carpet style to be a perfect marriage. Although many bridal gowns are “classic” and never go out of style, there are some trends that make their mark each season. Many of those trends come directly from the red carpet.

Here is the inside scoop on the noteworthy trends for 2011 that will be seen walking down both the red carpet and the aisle!

Strapless Gowns: There is still a love of strapless gowns that we see the celebrities wearing. At the 2011 Oscars, Halle Berry wore a gorgeous Marchesa strapless nude gown that could be easily translated into a jaw-dropping wedding dress and reminds us of this stunning Valentino Deandra Couture Bridal Gown.

Mermaid and Trumpet Gowns: Fitted to the body all the way to the knees (some to the upper thighs), and then flare outward, mermaid and trumpet gowns are definitely growing in popularity. At the Oscars, Sandra Bullock wore a simple but sexy red Vera Wang gown with a trumpet skirt. Although sometimes seen in lace, the material most often used with this trend is silk organza. A perfect wedding dress example of this gown would be the Badgley Mischka Rita Couture Bridal Gown.

Full and Detailed Skirts: On the red carpet, Olivia Wilde was seen at the Golden Globes wearing a soft lavender, strapless, belted gown with a very feminine full, ruffled skirt. This beautiful Oscar de le Renta 72E10 X is a perfect example of the trendy bridal-version of Wilde’s gown. Another example is Hailee Steinfeld at the Oscars. At only 14 years old, she looked glamorous in a pale pink Marchesa dress, with a full skirt covered in hand-embroidered crystals. There have been more and more gowns seen on the red carpet, and even more so in bridal fashion, that have intricate pieces of fabrics layered upon each other. These skirts are designed to flow delicately with movement. A designer gown that illustrates this artistic detailing is seen on the Monique Lhuillier Vivienne Couture Bridal Gown.

Gowns with Belts: Beaded belts and ribbon sashes are both very popular on the red carpet and in the bridal magazines. Olivia Wilde accessorized her Golden Globe gown with a sparkly belt that cinched the waist and drew attention to the smallest part of her. Seen in the bridal trends as well, Chelsea Clinton wore an embellished belt on her wedding dress designed by Vera Wang. At the Oscars, actress Mila Kunis wore a lilac Elie Saab Haute Couture dress, complemented with a matching lilac ribbon around her waist.

In any one of these gowns, every bride will feel like a star walking down the red carpet on their “big day.” All the wedding dresses mentioned above, and more, can be found at www.yourdreamdress.com

Winter Wedding Trends and Styles

Although winters can be chilly and dim, winter weddings are growing in popularity, shedding light on the true beauty of a winter bride.

Here are some wedding dress trends to look out for this winter season!

Heavier fabrics:

· Silk satin and silk Mikado fabrics are heavier, which makes them the fabric of choice for winter weddings.

· Ball gowns and trumpet mermaid styles are very popular in these fabrics.

· Strapless to long sleeve bodices are perfect for winter weddings. Currently, winter brides that choose a strapless bodice will pair their look with a bolero jacket or luxurious cashmere wrap.

A great example is the Justina McCaffrey Gown Silk Satin Gown .

Lace Boleros and Jackets:

For brides that are looking for coverage over their strapless gown, a sophisticated alencon or luxurious Chantilly lace bolero is the perfect choice, such as this Justina McCaffrey delicately beaded Chantilly lace bolero.

Boleros and Jackets not only help with the outside elements, but they also help with coverage for traditional church ceremonies.

Beadwork & Embellishments:

Whether its crystals, pearls or clear sequins, beading on a winter wedding gown will make any bride feel like a princess.

The crystals will sparkle against the glistening snow and the evening candlelight.  For the bride that wants to make a memorable entrance, she may choose to wear a gown with tone on tone or silver embroidery that is accented with sparkling clear crystals and pearls.

She will definitely make her guests eyes light up with delight, especially in this Reem Acra “Incredible” couture bridal gown.

Color:

Blush pinks and ice blue gowns have become popular for the bride who wants to be different, yet still wants to be elegant and glamorous.

A great time to wear these colors is during the colder months. Look for a subtle, soft blush gown that will bring warmth to a lighter skin tone, especially in the winter months.

A beautiful choice is the Monique Lhuillier “Bloom” with Chantilly lace and tulle.

Whichever gorgeous gown sparks your interest, we can help you find the perfect dress to make your winter wedding wonderful!
