Royal Wedding Gown Finally Revealed!

The big day has finally arrived and the rumors that had been milling around about Kate Middleton’s gown designer were true!  Sarah Burton, a designer for Alexander McQueen created the gorgeous look for Kate, and we here at Your Dream Dress think that it could not have been a better choice!

The ivory, satin and lace gown resembled the wedding gown of Princess Grace of Monaco, along with pearl button detail and a 8-foot-train.   The long, feminine chantilly and english lace sleeves were exactly what we were expecting, and the lace edged, silk veil was to die for.

For brides who are interested in a similar look, the Renella de Fina “Annalise” couture bridal gown is similar to what Kate and The Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown looked like, due to its fitted lace bodice and long lace sleeves.

We loved the decision to use the plunging v-neckline because it emphasized her youth and femininity, while also keeping the dress itself current, yet appropriate. Not to mention that it was absolute perfection for her figure!

While girls around the world are dreaming of finding their own Prince Charming, upcoming brides who already have their man but are interested in adding a beautiful tiara to their wedding wardrobe should try the Homa Bridal Tiara with Swarovski crystals and pearls. These looks and others like it are certainly fit for a princess!

William and Kate Opt out of the Typical Wedding Registry!

When most typical brides and grooms are faced with the decision of where to register for gifts, the choice is usually more along the lines of: Crate and Barrel or Pottery Barn? But for the royal couple that has everything, Prince William and bride-to-be Kate Middleton decided to forgo the typical wedding registry for a more giving alternative.

These two lovebirds decided to create the Royal Wedding Charity Fund, which allows people to send donations to 26 of the couple’s favorite charities. Since the two have already spent time working together for many charities to raise money and awareness for various causes, especially for children, charitable work is clearly something that is very close to their hearts.

Their choice of charities is primarily centered on those within UK, including Changing Lives through Arts and Sport, and Help and Care at Home. What is so great about their charity fund is that anyone can donate, whether they are on the exclusive guest or not.

And for all our upcoming brides out there who are thinking of having an alternative wedding – maybe setting up your own charity donation fund instead of the usual registry would be the perfect way for the two of you to start your lives together by giving to others!

If you would like to share your best wishes for the happy couple, a donation can be made through their website which includes a full list of the charities, that were personally chosen by Prince William and Miss Middleton.

Taking a Break From Planning their Wedding!

It’s easy to get overwhelmed when it comes to preparing for your big day. From creating the guest list to picking the cake, it seems like a bride and groom’s work is never done. However, Prince William and soon-to-be princess, Kate Middleton, took a break from their wedding preparations to visit the place their love began.

The two were spotted at their alma mater, St. Andrews University in Scotland. They were there to help launch the schools 600th Anniversary Celebrations. Kate looked stunning in a red suit and matching red skirt with black tights and boots. Her classic, fitted look was simple and elegant, definitely the kind of outfit any bride-to-be would look wonderful in.

Both William and Kate have still made attending public events a priority since their engagement was announced, even though the two can rarely go anywhere without the paparazzi documenting their every move. I can’t imagine how much more complicated that would make the wedding planning process!

For all our upcoming brides and grooms out there, make sure to take a page out of Kate and William’s book and make time in your busy schedule to just be together. No matter how complicated the planning can get, it’s always important to be with each other and have fun!

More Royal Wedding Details Revealed!

While information regarding the designer for Kate Middleton’s wedding dress remains a mystery, Prince William’s wardrobe is rumored to be tailor-made by Savile Row’s, Gieves & Hawkes. British Press officials have learned that William is to be wearing a military uniform. While Gieves & Hawkes haven’t confirmed the rumor, most believe it to be true because they have designed several pieces for the family in the last few years.

Princess-to-be, Kate Middleton, is in the process of selecting who is going to be in her royal bridal party. Middleton’s sister, will be the maid of honor (also known as the “chief” bridesmaid), which was an obvious choice. The ladies will be staying at the fabulous “Goring Hotel,” which ensures privacy, while setting the bar high in luxury. What the bridesmaids will wear, has not been disclosed….yet. William’s younger brother, Harry, will be the best man.  Harry has invited a special guest of his own, bringing the past back to present with Chelsea Dave, his ex-girlfriend, as his date to the royal wedding. Kate is taking time in selecting the remaining bridesmaids, as this is a very important event in her life. I am sure we all know how hard it can be to pick a bridal party- but not nearly as hard as picking the perfect DRESS!

That is why Your Dream Dress exists! We are here to help brides find their perfect wedding gown, making wedding planning a little less stressful and even more exciting! We offer couture bridal gowns, fit for a princess, at a cost that any bride can afford.
