Wedding Dress of the Week: Anne Barge Devereaux

January 31st, 2012

This Anne Barge couture bridal gown is called Devereaux.  This designer wedding gown features a feminine strapless neckline and fitted bodice, which gives a sexy, yet elegant feeling and look to the gown.  It exudes drama and glamour from the strapless neckline to the fitted french chantilly lace bodice that glides gracefully over the the hips and stylishly flares into layers upon layers of tulle edged in horsehair and accented with french alencon lace.   The delicate silk flower petals accent the bust-line and travel lightly down the bodice and through the light beige sash.  The silk petals are accented with lightly scattered crystals to give the gown just the right amount of sparkle and elegance.   The gown has all the elements that any bride is looking for Sophistication, Elegance, Romance, Specialness and of course sexiness, too!

Wedding Trends on the Rise for 2012 include… full skirts with lots and lots of detailing!

January 6th, 2012
Although many couture wedding gowns are “classic” and never go out of style, there are trends that tend to pop up every now and then. Here are the trends that are seen walking down both the red carpet, and the aisle! I can reassure you, they are all fabulous!

* The Strapless Gowns: There is still a love of strapless gowns that we still see celebrities wearing.  Strapless, form-fitted styles that have asymetrical pleating across the bodice and throughout the hip with trumpet flared skirts have been a big trend.  The gowns are usually made out of luxurious silk satin, chiffon, organza, taffeta or lace.  Strapless full ballgown bridal gowns have also been strong, too.  Especially, with Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier’s collections.

* The Mermaid and Trumpet Gowns: A mermaid-style red Reem Acra gown was shown off, flattering Eva Longoria’s body on the red carpet.  These gowns are definitely growing in popularity- mostly because they are sexy gowns that are fitted to the body all the way to the knees (some to the upper thighs), and then flare outward.  They can be very flattering with the right body! Although seen in some lace, the material popularly used with this trend is mainly silk organzas.

*The Full and Detailed Skirts: There have been more and more gowns seen on the red carpet, and more so in bridal fashion, that have intricate pieces of fabrics layered upon each other. In many gowns, the fabric’s layers put all together tend to look like little flowers all around the lower half of the dress. The skirt seems to almost flares out slightly, yet flows delicately with movement.  Designer gowns such as Monique Lhuillier bridal gowns and Vera Wang wedding dresses illustrate this artistic detailing.

·      Gowns with Belts: Beaded belts and ribbon sashes are both very popular on the red carpet and in the bridal magazines.  They had just the right amount of bling/color to an ordinary or plain wedding dress.

Accessories to Liven Up Your Bridal Look!

May 6th, 2011
Accessories to Liven Up Your Bridal Look!

No one will argue that finding the perfect dress is nearly as difficult as finding the perfect man, but once you find those two fabulous things, it may leave you brides wondering, what now? Accessories are one of the most important things to make sure that the look you create on your wedding day is flawless from head to toe!Couture designer Vera Wang told WWD some of her tips on how to style the ultimate overall look saying, “It’s really important to see the whole look — the dress, the headpiece, the size of the bouquet and the shoes. I would even go so far as to include the makeup. A lot of girls put a tremendous amount of effort into the dress, but they don’t give a lot of thought to the headpiece, tiara, barrettes or other bridal accessories. Very often they are an afterthought.”

The upcoming bride and Victoria’s Secret supermodel Lily Aldridge, whose wedding we discussed a couple weeks ago, is the face of the stores’ new bridal lingerie line “Sexy Little Bride.” They feature all kinds of fun little items to make sure that your big day leads to an equally big night!

From finding the perfect veil, headpiece, sash, jewelry, petticoat or crinolines, us here at Your Dream Dress have a wonderful selection of bridal accessories that will compliment any bridal look! Feel free to browse our selection of hair accessories that will emphasize any hairstyle or browse our couture designer bridal shoes that are sure to make you feel like the ultimate Cinderella on your special day. With many selections to choose from, we’re sure to have something that will compliment your ultimate dream dress look.

Royal Wedding Gown Finally Revealed!

April 29th, 2011

Royal Wedding Gown Finally Revealed!

The big day has finally arrived and the rumors that had been milling around about Kate Middleton’s gown designer were true!  Sarah Burton, a designer for Alexander McQueen created the gorgeous look for Kate, and we here at Your Dream Dress think that it could not have been a better choice!

The ivory, satin and lace gown resembled the wedding gown of Princess Grace of Monaco, along with pearl button detail and a 8-foot-train.   The long, feminine chantilly and english lace sleeves were exactly what we were expecting, and the lace edged, silk veil was to die for.

For brides who are interested in a similar look, the Renella de Fina “Annalise” couture bridal gown is similar to what Kate and The Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown looked like, due to its fitted lace bodice and long lace sleeves.

Renella DeFina "Annalise" Couture Bridal Gown

We loved the decision to use the plunging v-neckline because it emphasized her youth and femininity, while also keeping the dress itself current, yet appropriate. Not to mention that it was absolute perfection for her figure!

While girls around the world are dreaming of finding their own Prince Charming, upcoming brides who already have their man but are interested in adding a beautiful tiara to their wedding wardrobe should try the Homa Bridal Tiara with Swarovski crystals and pearls. These looks and others like it are certainly fit for a princess!

Bublé’s Bride Dons Three Gowns!

Longtime bachelor, Michael Bublé got married on April 8th to Argentinean actress Luisana Loreley Lopilato de la Torre who wore three different gowns to celebrate her marriage! The couple participated in a civil ceremony on the 6th, where Luisana wore an adorable short violet dress with crystal detailing.

It was on Saturday that the couple had a religious ceremony and reception where the beautiful bride wore a gown by Argentinean designer, Sylvie Burstin. Then during the outdoor ceremony, which combined big-band and South American musical classics, Luisana wore a gorgeous Marchesa gown.

The couple is also rumored to be having a second reception in Vancouver, British Columbia, near Bublé’s Canadian hometown. We can’t wait to find out the dresses she’ll be wearing then! For similar looks to Luisana’s fabulous selections, check out our BadgleyMischka Jeri Gown,  Monique Lhuillier Tiered gown, and the Caroline Herrara 32805 gown.

I love the versatility of the Carolina Herrera gown below.  The bottom part of the gown easily detachs off, which gives the bride a gorgeous short dress to wear for the cake cutting or as her going away outfit and even better yet…What a great dress to wear again on her anniversary!!

Reese Witherspoon Wedding Details Revealed!

April 15th, 2011

Reese Witherspoon Wedding Details Revealed!

After we announced Reese’s wedding a few weeks ago, and that she would be wearing couture bridal gown by designer Monique Lhuillier, we couldn’t wait to find out more details! Their wedding took place in the bride’s $6.95 million dollar home on Saturday, March 26 in her very own backyard in Ojai, California.

Only 120 guests were invited to the couple’s private ceremony, including Scarlett Johansson, Renee Zellweger, Robert Downy Jr., and Matthew McConaughey. Reese’s nieces were the flower girls, and both of her children were in the wedding party! We love a good old fashioned family affair when it comes to weddings, and according to sources, the reception has a rustic theme.

And now to the best part: The Dress. Reese wore her hair down, and both mother and daughter matched in custom Monique Lhuillier gown. Reese’s dress was incredibly romantic, pale pink, with a long pink sash under the bust. She stunned in this timelessly romantic look, and we think she absolutely nailed it!

When asked about the dress she said, “The wedding was a wonderful experience. Everything went perfectly, right down to the dress which I just loved. Monique made it especially for me. She’s been a family friend of Jim’s for a very long time and it was an honor to be able to go to her atelier and have her make one of her beautiful gowns for me. I was just delighted.”

Nothing like the thrill of finding a dress that seems made for you! For all you upcoming brides interested in a similar look, be sure to check out our available Monique Lluillier gowns for your own special day.
