Lea-Ann Belter

It was obvious to those around her that Lea-Ann Belter was destined to create.  Her creative juices started flowing early and have never stopped.

The desire she felt as a child to paint and draw laid a solid foundation for a very successful career in the bridal world.  Lea-Ann Belter began her career in creation at an art-focused high school and then continued it into a specialization in glass and textiles at the Sheridan College of Crafts and Design.  She later attended the International Academy of Design and Merchandising where she studied fashion design.  It was at IADM that she became a finalist in the Dubonnet awards, a very prestigious award presented to Canada’s top fashion students.  Lea-Ann’s dedication to perfection led her in the direction of more education and practice and onto the finalists list for the International Woolmark Prize for up-and-coming designers.  It wasn’t until her brother asked her for a favor that her true calling revealed itself.

While designing her sister-in-laws wedding gown, Lea-Ann realized that the skills she had practiced and polished over the years and her eye for modern design were a perfect fit for the bridal world.  Her understanding of how a gown was made and how it complimented a woman’s figure made her a hit with other local Toronto brides.

In 1990 Lea-Ann opened her first boutique and a few years later began selling her gowns through other retailers as well.  In 2007, another nomination came her way and this time she was awarded Designer of the Year at the Canadian Wedding Industry Awards.  Her label and notoriety has only grown and now her gowns are available at high end retailers throughout North America and Europe.

Lea-Ann Belter’s inclination for timeless design, unblemished execution and top notch quality has easily earned her a spot as one of the top couture bridal designers in the industry.
